The growing popularity of mountain biking in recent years has seen a significant number of dedicated mountain bike parks pop up all around Perth. Located just east of Perth airport, or about 40 minutes from the city centre, Kalamunda is one of the most popular mountain biking destinations in Perth. With over 40km of single track trails, there’s something for everyone, from beginner and kid-friendly loops aimed at building confidence on the trail, right through to difficult routes with jumps, log rides and challenging drop offs.
The Kalamunda Mountain Bike collective maintains the trails, and has pulled together a helpful map with loads of suggested loops. Some of these include:

Alongside Kalamunda, the Goat Farm is a Perth mountain biking institution. Located just on the outskirts of Perth, it was the first mountain bike park in Perth, and is one of the closest to the CBD. It’s located just inside Greenmount National Park, a 4km cycle away from the Midland Train Station.
The park has over 20km of trails, from easy trails through to extreme routes. It might be Perth’s oldest park, but it’s also one of the hardest, with many of the routes leaning to the more challenging side.
The park is perhaps best known for its Skills Area, which gives riders the chance to build their technical skills and get their adrenaline fix on a series of jumps. One entry berm leads to three skills tracks through a rock garden—one Blue track for beginners, and two tracks for experienced riders with rock drops, steep jumps and gap jumps.
Note that the park can get quite hot during the day, with little shade over most of the trails, so it’s best to visit in the cooler months between April and October.

Langford Park in Jarrahdale is 45 minutes drive south east of Perth, known for its more gradual hills and fast, flowing single track. It mostly caters for intermediate riders, but there are two short trails for beginners. One is an access track, but the other—Lovers Lane—offers 1.5km of easy fire trail riding through the forest. Most of the intermediate routes are short and technical numbers, less than 1km in length, but there are a handful of longer routes:

Located along Rosedale Road in Chidlow and only one hour from Perth’s CBD, Lake Leschenaultia is a beginner mountain bike rider’s paradise. There are nine purpose built mountain bike tracks in the area, covering about 12kms in total. And with an elevation gain of only 50m over 2kms, the Lake offers some of the gentlest ascents around, making it a perfect spot for beginners, and those easing back into the sport after injury.
